For John Nguyen and his wife, life on the New South Wales Central Coast is a world away from their former home in Tasmania. Now settled in the peaceful town of Wadalba - just ten minutes from the beach - the couple runs a thriving nail salon and is raising their young son in a community they love.
When it came time to build their dream home, the couple knew they wanted to put down roots locally. But choosing the right builder was a big decision. After carefully weighing up their options, it was Metricon’s New Home Advisor Alex Western who made all the difference.
“Alex was fantastic,” John says. “He made us feel really comfortable from the start. He explained everything clearly and gave us all the information we needed, which really built our trust in him.”
A former carpenter and local to the area, Alex brought valuable building experience and local insights - something that proved invaluable in shaping the family’s journey.

The biggest challenge? Narrowing down their choice of home design. “The variety of home designs that Metricon offers in incredible - I fell in love with far too many of them,” John laughs.
The couple visited the Savannah display home in Box Hill and were instantly drawn to the Savannah 41RF from the Freedom by Metricon range, complete with a Hamptons-inspired Yale façade. A versatile and spacious two-storey home, the design features two open-plan living areas, a home theatre, study, and a large kitchen with walk-in pantry downstairs, while upstairs includes a kids’ rumpus room and a luxurious master suite with an expansive walk-in robe and beautifully appointed ensuite.
“We loved the layout - it just made sense for our family.” John Nguyen

One of the highlights for John and his wife was the transparency of the process. “We loved that all the basic inclusions were already built in, so there were no surprises,” John says. “Alex was amazing - he laid everything out for us clearly and even made sure everything was signed off before he went on holiday. He really went above and beyond.”
Once construction began, the process was just as smooth. “It was fantastic - everything exceeded my expectations,” John says. “From the quality of the materials to the workmanship, we couldn’t fault it.”
John also appreciated the consistent communication from the site managers throughout the build, which kept them informed and reassured every step of the way.
What truly surprised him, however, was the speed of the build. “The contract said it could take up to 60 weeks, but Alex told me it might be quicker - and it was,” he says. “It only took about half that time. I couldn’t believe it.”
Finishing early meant the family moved into their dream home ahead of schedule - and saved thousands on rent in the process.

“We’re so happy with our beautiful home. My wife especially loves the kitchen with its spacious pantry and the way the living area flows outdoors.” John Nguyen
The couple is already recommending Metricon to friends and family. “One of our friends came over and was blown away by the home,” John says. “They couldn’t believe it was from the more affordable end of the ranges - it just shows you don’t have to sacrifice quality. The look on their face just proved it was such a great decision for us.”
