Kalyan and Sailaja’s dream home in Ballarat East

Metricon

When Kalyan and his wife, Sailaja, moved into their stunning new Metricon home in Ballarat East, they wanted to mark the occasion in a truly special way. Overlooking a peaceful nature reserve, their Vantage 53 with an Aspire façade was blessed in a traditional Hindu Griha Pravesh ceremony – a joyful day shared with more than 120 friends, family, and a few very proud Metricon team members.

“It was a busy, but beautiful day,” Kalyan recalls with a smile.

A green change to the Central Highlands

Originally based in Melbourne’s west, Kalyan and Sailaja had spent years visiting Ballarat before deciding to make the move. They were drawn to the region’s historic charm, sense of space, and the lifestyle it could offer their two children, now in grade three and grade six.

“We wanted the kids to grow up with more room to play, surrounded by nature, but also with access to good schools,” Kalyan explains.

With Ballarat’s property market heating up, the couple quickly realised that building would be the best way to secure exactly what they wanted.

“When you’re spending your hard-earned money, you may as well get what you want,” Kalyan says. “So we settled on Metricon. Once you set your budget, it makes sense to go with Australia’s leading builder – we felt reassured by their reputation and expertise.”

Designing a home that works for everyone

From their very first meeting, Metricon’s New Home Advisor helped the couple narrow down their options and find the perfect fit for their block. The Vantage 53 stood out, delivering everything on their wish list – and more.

Kalyan wanted light, openness and a sense of grandeur. “I love the void over the living area and how airy it feels,” he says. “And with views across the reserve, the design really makes the most of the location.”

Sailaja’s must-have was practicality: ensuites for every bedroom, giving their children privacy as they grow.

And the kids? Their only demand was a two-storey home. “They insisted – they love running up and down the stairs,” Kalyan laughs. “It was more expensive, but worth it to see them so happy.”

A smooth build and a stunning result

The slab was poured in late September, and by May the family had the keys in hand. Kalyan credits much of the experience to his brilliant site supervisor, who kept the process seamless from start to finish.

Now settled in, the family couldn’t be happier. Kalyan’s commute is under ten minutes, the children’s school is nearby, and the family loves the sense of community around them. “We have great neighbours and all this open space right across the road,” he says.

Sharing their experience

Proud of their new home, Kalyan and Sailaja have been eager to share their journey with others. Videos of their build, posted online, have attracted attention far and wide. “I’ve been getting calls from people I worked with over ten years ago, who’ve seen the videos and want to know more,” Kalyan says.

And when it comes to recommending Metricon, he doesn’t hesitate. “For the value, quality and support you get, it’s a no-brainer. Metricon supported my wife and I at every step, and it meant so much that they came to the blessing and were part of the experience.”

As Kalyan sees it, building with Metricon gave his family more than just a house – it gave them the home, the lifestyle, and the future they had hoped for.
