Double the inspiration: twin display homes in Magill

Metricon

Two gorgeous display homes. One convenient location.

Meet Metricon’s latest Adelaide display homes: the Merricks 42 with a Nordic façade, and the Artisan 55 with a Pacific façade.

Perched side-by-side in leafy Magill, with the rolling Adelaide Hills and one of Penfold’s premium wineries just a stone’s throw away, both homes offer distinct interpretations of contemporary living, each making the most of indoor-outdoor connections.

We caught up with Metricon Senior Interior Designer Nicole Boeyen to talk through the clear, considered design approach behind both homes and how they show that a Metricon build can be as unique as the people who call it home.

The Merricks 42

Bringing a hint of inner-city polish to a relaxed coastal interior, the Merricks skips the obvious nautical tropes in favour of a refined, pared-back charm. Nicole and the team leaned on a natural palette - think driftwood tones, soft greys, and touches of rust - to create a tactile, calming experience across three living areas, four bedrooms, and a spacious study with custom cabinetry.

“We had a clear vision from the start,” Nicole explains. “We didn’t want traditional blue and white or anchors on the walls. Instead, we focused on elevating natural textures throughout the home.”

The Nordic façade incorporates locally sourced stone for the portico columns, pairing earthy warmth with pale grey panelling, while the Artisan next door stands in bright white contrast. Inside, sandy carpets, and earthy furnishings carry the theme through, with black-and-white artwork and trending terracotta tones adding contemporary flair.

Light oak parquetry flows throughout, from the picture-windowed study with built-in seating to the dining area, styled with a worn oak table and tan leather chairs. Travertine stone and marble coffee tables act as understated heroes, while sepia-tone feature walls and layered soft furnishings add depth and character to the bedrooms.

The Artisan 55

Where the Merricks plays with earthy sophistication, the Artisan makes a statement with its modernist Pacific façade and expansive interior. Five bedrooms, three living zones, and elegant details throughout create a home designed to impress without feeling overdone.

“This home leans into a crisp white palette with black accents, while subtle pops of olive green keep the connection to nature front and centre,” Nicole explains.

Oversized abstract art, a dramatic entrance hall with grey-washed oak floors, and a floating staircase set the tone, while the main living area boasts soaring voids over the dining space, Victorian ash ceilings, and moss-coloured dining chairs that tie back to the greenery outside.

Stone benchtops with fine grain, soft mosaic tiles, and large-format flooring give the wet areas a sense of scale and sophistication. In the entertainment zones, stone panels layer texture against sleek monochrome cabinetry, while in the bedrooms, feature walls and timber screens create a subtle sense of drama.

Furniture choices include tactile boucle fabrics, layered textures, and contemporary artwork, striking the perfect balance between comfort and high-end design. “It’s a home that feels modern, calm, and beautifully considered,” says Nicole.

Both the Merricks and Artisan show how thoughtful design can turn a house into a welcoming retreat. “Either would appeal to someone looking for style, comfort, and a home that feels perfectly in tune with its surroundings,” Nicole adds.
